October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for many communities, Direct Sellers are at the forefront of supporting the cause. Whether it’s supplying auction basket donations, donating a percentage of party/product sales to breast cancer organizations, or a team breast cancer walk, I’m proud to say that our industry makes a huge difference in fighting the fight.
This Essential Guide To Breast Cancer Awareness Month Ideas will help you and your team increase awareness, give back, and make a bigger impact.
Keep the focus on awareness
While you might have a specific breast cancer awareness product (or collection) – with a percentage of sales being donated to charity – selling is not the end goal. The goal is to increase awareness. Hold more parties so you can meet more people and make a bigger impact. Set a goal for yourself and/or your team to hold (x) number of parties and track how much money you raise. You might even want to add your own donation on top of what your team raises when the team goal is met.

Share resources and get involved

Here are 5 fun ideas that can increase awareness and inspire action:
Sock-it to Cancer
These super cute pink socks are the perfect reward for Consultants who meet a team party goal and/or Hosts who book a party during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Seriously. I would book a party just to get the socks. Amplify your message by encouraging hosts and consultants to take a photo of them wearing the socks and share it on Facebook/Instagram with your unique breast cancer awareness hashtag. (Learn more about using hashtags below.)
Balloon game
Insert a piece of paper with a prize on it into these balloons before you blow them up. When a specific goal or action is achieved (book a party, join, submit 2 parties, etc.), go LIVE on Facebook to pop the balloon and reveal the prize! This is a fun activity for in-person parties and events, too, and can be a very effective to book parties and sponsor new consultants.
Breast cancer awareness bracelets
Honor survivors who attend parties and team events by giving them a special gift. These bracelets are affordable ($14.99/pack of 10) and spread the empowering message of hope, strength, and courage.
Pink ribbon gift bags
Gift bags can be used for breast cancer awareness themed party packets, door prizes, vendor events, booking/sponsoring incentives, and team gifts.
Pink ribbon raffle tickets
And yes, you can even use pink ribbon raffle tickets for home and Facebook parties, team challenges and vendor events. These are one-sided so you’ll have to write the name on the back. Bonus tip: give out 5 extra door prize tickets to party guests who got a mammogram this year!
Use hashtags to amplify your message
Hashtags connect you with others who are talking about breast cancer awareness, and help you get found. Use up to 30 hashtags on Instagram and 2 -3 on Twitter and LinkedIn. Your company might also have a custom hashtag they created. If not, create your own (but search it first). Example: #VisionistasThinkPink. Read Hashtags Explained for more info.
