If your Facebook Group has been hitting the snooze button lately, these 7 easy fixes will help you wake up your members and take them from sleeping to active.
Get the right people in your Group
The spammy practice of adding everyone you know to a Facebook Group could be the cause of an inactive Group. The easy fix is to update your cover photo and description (maybe even your Group name) to let everyone know what your Group is about. All the members in your Group will get notified about the updates. They’ll either be excited to see what’s new or they’ll remove themselves. Bye-bye people who don’t want to be there!
Quarterly challenge or countdown event
Think: 30 Day Boot Camp, Countdown to (fill in the blank with the problem you solve), or 14-day Challenge to (problem you solve), etc. Go LIVE daily to ramp up your interaction and engagement, which “tells” the Facebook algorithm that your Group rocks! That means more Group members will see your post in their News Feed. Heck, Facebook might even start recommending your Group to more people.
Increase engagement on every post
How? By always asking a question. Examples of posts that get a ton of engagement are:
- This or That
- Fill in the blank
- Describe with a GIF or emoji how you feel about _______
- What do you love most about (product)?
Invite a collab partner to co-admin your Facebook Group, or elevate active members to moderators and posters. Example: If you sell skincare, invite a makeup artist, nutritionist or Yoga instructor to post weekly and share all their secrets to healthy looking skin.
Team Member welcome
Change up your Facebook Group welcome by inviting all members to a monthly Zoom meet-up. Give shout-outs to newbies and encourage everyone to clap and cheer them on! This is a great opportunity for you to review what’s happening in your Group each month, too. But wait…before you start, record the Zoom meet-up so you can upload the video to your Facebook Group for all to see. Mark it as an announcement to get even more views.
Theme days
Consistency is key to an active Facebook Group. Create daily themes so members know exactly what content you’re posting, and when. Example: Save the marketing messages for “Saturday Savings” so Members know to check the Group every Saturday for special deals. Other daily Facebook Group theme ideas include:
Monday: Motivation, Mindful, Mani, Makeover, Mantra
Tuesday: Transformation, Tip, Travel, To-do, Trendy, Trivia, Tasty
Wednesday: Wins, Watch Party, Workout, Wine-down, Work-It
Thursday: Thankful, Thirsty, Thoughts, Throwback, Thrifty, Three things
Friday: Fun, Foodie, Feel good, Fashion, Fresh, Funny, Family, Feature
Saturday: Selfie, Shout Out, Style, Social, Swag, Savings
Sunday: Self-care, Spotlight, Funday, Soulful
Interviews & Testimonials
Make your community the star of the show (meaning Group) and ask customers and hosts to post their testimonials on ‘Tell it Tuesday’. You could take this one step further and interview a customer or host via Facebook LIVE. Use StreamYard, a cloud-based live streaming platform, to go LIVE with up to 10 people at one time!
