Done well, your introduction can be the #1 game-changer you’ve been looking for to hold more successful Facebook parties. Why? Because relationship building starts as guests are “walking in the door”, which is true for both home and online parties.

When guests arrive at a home party, you always introduce yourself and build rapport first – before you start sharing all your awesome products. But for some reason, we forget the importance of our introduction in building relationships when we’re partying online. Facebook Live is the perfect solution to bringing what works at a home party to your online party. Going live will also help you work around the limited notifications (your party post notifications might be hiding in “All Notifications”), because live video plays as a small thumbnail everywhere on Facebook. Let’s face it, a live broadcast gets noticed!
Here’s what to say and do during your introduction to have better Facebook Party results from your very first post:
- Tell your story: Be yourself and share a little about why you started your biz. Show off family photos and let your passion for what you do shine through. Photobombs of kids and furry friends are encouraged.
- Ask for shares: Ask guests to invite their friends who love [your product] to join in! If you created the event from your biz page, both your event and your live video will be shareable, so guests can easily share and invite their Facebook friends to join in. This simple step can help you connect with your ideal client – who might be the friend of a friend!
- Offer a free gift: Offering a free gift during the introduction is one of my biggest Facebook secrets – and the reason I have such great results. Your free gift can be anything that offers value and helps you learn more about what party guests are interested in so you can give them exactly what they want. Examples include a free sample (if affordable), a how-to video or a PDF document (tips, recipe, etc..). Ask guests to text you for their freebie so you can take the convo off of Facebook and get to know guests one-on-one. You’ll also be able to follow up to increase sales and book parties!
Your Facebook Live video will be published to your event and available to watch anytime. Click on the arrow in the right corner to edit your original post and include your phone number (for texting) so guests know how to get their “free gift”. Then pin your post to the top and welcome any late-comers from the moment they arrive!
See the example (below) of how I edited the post to add my contact details. Ask guests to text you “hostess name + party” so you can easily follow-up with guests by searching your messages for the Hostess name. This simple step puts you in control of your party results vs. hoping guests see your party posts and show up to shop.
